Can I use .45 cal muzzleloader bullets in a 45ACP?
Can you press .45 cal muzzle loader sabots into a 45 ACP case?
Want to give my 1911 a little zing at the range with a lighter bullet.
How about it boys, will it work?[:p]

I really don't think I would try it. I know they made the Accelerator loads for rifles with saboted .22 bullets but i don't think it would work in a pistol.

Thanks, nice Model M. I learned to drive on one of those and raked many a field with one of those tractors. 0 -
First I ever drove was a SuperA. Its still my favorite to this day.

Not too sure about this ....but....the twist rate of a muzzle loader is about 1:28. A pistol has a much faster twist. Would the designers of the bullet make it function at the higher RPM imposed by a pistol??? The MV may be lower but it sure will be spinning a lot faster. 0 -
There's only one way to find out. [:D][}:)][B)]

.45 ACP is .451
BP goes from .452-.458 I would say not.

If you can get one to go in a 45 ACP case your doing good, and I'll bet the case will not be able to take a crimp, because of the case now being larger than it should be.

The real premise in here would be if the combined sabot/bullet weight back pressure would create enough blow-back to overcome the recoil spring and cycle the action. A similar situation exist when you shoot "blanks" in a semi-auto gun.
I had the same problem shooting the Remington "Accelerators" in 30-06 in my Remington 742 semi-auto. Most of the time they would not work the action.
Otherwise, I do not think you would have any problems other some plastic fouling in your barrel.0
