Winchester Model 100

I picked up a Winchester Model 100 today at a garage sale. The rifle is in 90% condition. It is chambered in .284 Winchester. The S/N is 97,xxx. I think that makes production in 1965. I don't have pics just yet, but could take some and email them. Are the values really as high as I have seen on GB auctions? Incidently, I paid $250 for the rifle with 2 clips, 2 boxes of shells, and a 4x Bushnell scope on Weaver bases and rings. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated![:)][:)][?]

    Can anyone tell me how to tell a pre-64 from a post-64 in the Model 100. I was under the impression that the basket weave checkering and no checkering was Post-64, with pre-64 having cut checkering.

    Price range: Rifle, about $250 to $450; Carbine, about $300 to $575.

    Curly,I suggest you pick up a copy of the gun list. The .284 is getting quite rare they are selling for $500.00 and up depending on cond. The Mags. if they are .284s are selling for about $65.00 & up.
