question on rifle safety issue
I have a Stevens model 325-B searching for a complete bolt assembly found a disclaimer that said a rifle should always be checked by a competent gun-smith before installing such a part.----my question is: is this just a legal disclaimer because we live in a 'sue-happy' society
or is there a real bonifide issue here that could be a safety risk?----and if I fired it with arm outstretched with face shielded and all went well---could i then assume it would be a safe shooter?

When installing a new bolt you should have the head space checked to insure it is within tolerances. If you have any doubts as to the safety of a firearm, do not fire it in the manner you described, it has the potential to inflict great injury or death.

Please don't "assume" ANYTHING when it comes to firearms! SSgt Ryan has it correct: a bolt MUST be properly fitted to the action it's working in to function correctly and safely.[This message has been edited by spclark (edited 12-26-2001).] 0 -
Thanks--Guys
as an avid supporter of our 2nd ammendment rights---i feel it is up to each and everyone of us to be responible in all manners that could be used as fuel against us by the communist led gun grabbing lobby
thanks for your advice and please know--I will do my part by having these firearms checked by a gun smith before firing them. also----these guns will stay in my personal collection. thanks again! Larry0
