advise for newbie
I'm sure this has been brought up countless times before. I plan to purchase a rifle in March. With the ammount of overtime I've been getting at work I will be able to afford an AR-15. For someone who only owns shotguns and a pair of Marlin 60s, would I be better off buying a less expensive rifle to start out with. I have shot a Mini 14 and an SKS along with various hunting rifles, but never an AR-15. I don't plan to hunt with it, just recreational shooting.Any advise for a first rifle will be appreciated...

Bushmaster-Bushmaster-Bushmaster, for a good shooter you can pick up a post ban bushmaster for under $700, I suggest the full size 20" barrel way more accurate, good luck and have fun. 0 -
Lots of different opinions on this. If you want a good quality gun at a reasonable price, and you are going to buy new, Bushmaster is the way to go. If you want the best , COLT, but it's gonna cost ya. For just rec shooting, you don't need to spend the money on a preban.Still say Bushy 0 -

Truly depends on what all you want to use it for. Just to plink and have fun, buy the mini-14. But if you want to do target shooting buy a ar-15. One of the best currently made is the bushmaster, at around $800 or so. For that price you could almost 2 mini-14's. 0 -
I have a Colt and it's a great rifle,but I also have a 150 dollar Handi-Rifle in .223 that shoots tighter groups. 0
