I need a few 32-20's to delead my 1892!
I just purchased a very sound old 92 but the barrel appears to be leaded up. My theory is to fire about 5 rounds of a jacketed shell to "help me out". Please advise if I'm screwing up or if you can help me out as reloads would be fine since factory jacketed are few and far between..[This message has been edited by CME4DIRT (edited 12-19-2001).]

IMHO, it might be better to try a good cleaning first. If there is so much lead buildup in the bbl, it might constrict the bore somewhat and firing harder jacketed slugs may raise pressures significantly. But .32-20 is not that hard to obtain and the shippping costs on a few rounds will boost the cost a lot (legally, live ammo cannot be shipped by mail). Besides, you have the rifle, so you will need ammo anyway, right?[This message has been edited by Iconoclast (edited 12-19-2001).] 0
