What is a good, reliable entry level cowboy gun that has the same features and design as the 1873 colt?

I have 4 Colt SSA and one Uberti Cattleman. The Uberti is about as close as You can get without buying a Colt.I've had no problems with it and have shot it many times. There are two more guns that I would look at before I made a decision, one is the U.S. Arms 45 SSA its made in the old Colt factory and is in my opinion a better gun than Colt makes now, but the price is a little steep at around 900.00.The other gun that I have read a lot about is the A.W.A Peacekeeper. It sells for around 450.00 and from what I've read its a great gun.The gun is made in Italy and shipped here for final assembly. There is a lot of guns out there just don't go for the cheapest thing you can find and not expect to have a little trouble with it.Just remember you get what you pay. for.Hopes this helps. Like the saxonpig I shoot a pair of EMF Hartfords.I have had excellant luck with them over the years. The parts interchange with those of the REAL COLT.Can't get closer to the real thing. The third issue Colt is not as close a match as the Hartfords. The later Colts have a different thread design and the cylinder is not carried on the extra cylinder insert as the old Colts had.Like I said the Hartfords are duplicates of the original smokeless Colts.Buy Them You'll like them.

I have a Longhorn by American Western Arms. I love it. I will admit you'd probably get better long term reliability from the Ruger, due to its coil springs. Still My Longhorn hasn't broken, in the 500rds or so that I've put through it, since August when I got it.I also have a .38 special 1851 navy Richards conversion replica. Made by Armi San Marco. It's lots of fun. It's not a SAA replica though.WOODS
