Old S.S., Is it possible you misread the mdl.#? I've found a model 124 made by Stevens [there was alot of cross-over mfg. by both companies] in 12 ga. tenite stock and forearm but no such animal in model 1244. The 124 is a slide action 12 ga. only, straight pull action, 28" bbl., 3 shot, circa 1950. Maybe this will help.Tideman

Tideman,Thank you for the reply.I am sure of the mdl. no. 1244 as i double checked it and wrote it downThis gun sounds similar to the one you mentioned, but the forearm does not move. only a large bolt on the side similar to an auto.It may have been marked Stevens not Savage of this i am not sure.Anyway,Thanks again for your interest and reply. The 124 is a manually operated repeater that looks like an autoloader. Kind of a wierd bolt-action design. Not a big hit.
