    1. "Ranger" is a name that was used on a number of different firearms made for Sears, Roebuck & Company. They were made by Savage, Stevens, H&R, Winchester, Marlin, and the defunct Eastern Arms Company. If you can give us more information such as 101.2, 105.20, 35A or whatever we may be able to tell you the manufacturer and the manufacturer's model number.2. I have seen a Stevens 500 and a Stevens 5151 - both hammerless boxlocks, but I have never seen a Stevens 5000. I don't say you don't have one - I have just never seen one.

Thank You for the reply. The Ranger has precision grade 104.3 marked on the top of left bbl. if this helps.

The Ranger could well be a Hunter. Difference between it and the Stevens is so small that I always forget what it is exactly. Trigger guard or removable bottom plate as I recall.

Old Single Shots:Unfortunately - none of my reference souces have a listing in the cross-over charts with that number. However - in another reference source - I found an obscure mention of Hunter making some shotguns for Sears. You might want to give a shout for AntiqueDr or CaptKirk - they have far more resources available than I do.
