olyarms-96
Does anyone know much about the olyarms-96, the "pistol" version that shoots a .223. Is it being produced now, I have heard that orders are being made and clients are waiting 6 mo. upto a year to get this weapon? If they are actively making the gun ,how does it hold up? reliable? any input would be helpful? thanks.

There is an OA-96 but it's no longer made. It was just like their semi-auto OA-93 EXCEPT, the magazine is permanently pinned in place. You had to break open the receiver and load via stripper clips. Not very appealing if you ask me. About a year ago I saw one on GB going for about $900. If I recall correctly, it never sold.Olympic Arms does have a new version of their .223 pistol, the OA-98. It takes the standard ar-15 magazine and it's detachable, not like OA-96. The downside is that they've drilled holes or recesses all over that makes it look like swiss cheese. And it has no shroud or handguard over the barrel and I believe that thats's the only way it could be legally made. Once again, thank Klinton for that.Once again I think Olympic Arms missed the target with their new .223 pistol. I could probably live without the handguard but the holes make it unattractive! 0 -
The "holes" are necessary to get the weight down to the max weight of 52 ounces ...
