SKS help needed
My neighbor wanted my extra gun bag for his AR-15 and his wife wouldnt let him have 2 assault weapons.I already have a Russian SKS that I bought about 6 yrs ago for about $120I bought it because (forgive me dad) it was cheap and so was the ammo. So now I own another SKS. Its a 762x39 Norinco China Poly.I read a thread and found out a little about it.From what I understand it was made at plant 0140 and has a serial# 76032XX D which would make it about a 1963.The 3 chinese characters dont match the example that are shown at that simonov website. And it has a sling that is attached on the side of the butt stock.It has an attached bayo, One steel 30 rd mag and one Zytel 30 rd mag.Also included was the stock 10 rd mag,cleaning kit and 8 boxes of ammo.The blue is very good,The wood has various small dings but all #s match.I put about 100 rds through it and it is a straight shooter and functioned very good. Im curious what other info you might be able to tell me about this gun and what its value might be?Thanks Kidd

Took it out shooting today. I put about twenty rounds through it, worked fine as always. I load a mag of 10 rounds and give it to a friend to shoot while I go off to work on the cabin with his brother. I hear about 4 or 5 shots then maybe a muffled shot?, then nothing. I wasn't paying close attention to it but something didn't sound right. He calls me over and he's pulling on the bolt but a new cartridge won't feed. I try a couple times then it hits me. I open it up, take out the bolt and firing pin and, yep, can't see down the barrel. A bullet is now lodged about an inch and a half into the barrel. Another half inch and he would have fired the next round with extremely unpleasant consequences. Thank God nobody got hurt out of it.
The ammo was Wolf 122 gr. HP.
Has anybody had this happen to them?
Can I remove the bullet, and how, or should this be done by a gunsmith?
Could this have damaged the barrel making the gun unsafe?

On gunbroker you could probably get in the ballpark of $250.00 for it. SKS's are high on auction sites. You can get them here in the south, at a gun show or flea market for $150.00 to $200.00 each (chinese). Also add about another $20-30 dollars to the price because you have the extra clips. As with a lot of guns, value will differ depending on location. You pretty much found out everything you could about the rifle. Some prefer threaded over pinned barrel but I can't tell a bit of difference personally. 0
