Hello Cowboykidd, Im doing this from memory at work but the last serial number in Feb 45 was 3500000 (approx) and below. So you would probably be Jan or Feb 1945. If know one else posts will look it up in my book tonight when I get home.

If anyone can help, please. My father in law is selling his M1 Garand that he got off a wwii vet. the serial number is 1951551. We are trying to find out the date it was made, and where to find any other information on it. I seen on another site selling them where they were able to get the original papers from the factory showing when it was transfered to the owner. Thanks.

Scout, this website can identify when an M1 rifle was made:

    http://www.jouster.com/serial/serial.html

This website can tell you if there is any record of the disposition of an M1 rifle:

    http://armscollectors.com/srs.htm

There is no such thing as getting factory records or papers on any M1 rifle.
