My book shows that production of the 1894 stopped in 1942 at 1287469. Beginning in 1949, numbering started at 1500001. A footnote says that production figures for 1943 and 1948 are unknown. Apparently made in that time period during WWII.

mrfixit65: Take a look at the magazine band up near the front sight: is it "flat", or does it have a gentle curve to it? During the war, and for a very short time afterwards, production time of these bands was shortened up by making it in a very simple manner. These flat banded carbines carry a small preminum, value wise.
