Thread an ak-47 barrel sar-1
Gun, Romanian SAR-1. Problem, want to add muzzle brake. I have seen places that sell tapping kits but I am confused. It looks like the threaded part that the muzzle attaches to is about 3/4" while the barrel itself is 1/2". These threading kits say, 1) thread, 2) install muzzle brake. Does anyone know if the inside diameter of the muzzle brakes are 1/2" or not. Are some different?PS, I do not want a pin on ar the type with 3 or 4 screws. I want it on BABY!!! Welded and stuff...[This message has been edited by taxijohn (edited 12-12-2001).]

To the best of my knowledge, it would be illegal to thread the Bbl. on this model, unless you weld the muzzel brake on. You may want to investagate this a little more before proceeding.
Just because you're parronoid, does'nt mean they're not out to get you!0 -
I am aware of that, I will silver solder it or weld it. What I am wondering is what the inside diameter of ak-74 type and ak-47 type muzzle brakes is. 0 -
bbl thd od-.540", brake id- .515", 25tpi,left hand thread. These are closest inch sizes to l.h. metric thread. 0 -
wow, that's great, thanks. So it does basically fit right on the barrel after the barrel is threaded. 0
