Ruger#1 375 h&h
Ok I've got to have one of these rifles but I'm not sure about what cal. to buy. I was looking at a new 45/70, when I ran across a used 375 h&h mag.Now I'm not sure. I can save a couple hundred bucks if I go with the used gun but the only thing I'll use it for is to deer hunt and a little target shooting. What kind of recoil will this gun have? will it be to much to take out and shoot a box of ammo with it? I have a 270 and a 30.06 so I dont want another one of those.Soneone help me make up my mind. thanks

I have a #1 in 45-70 and with a full load of 3031 powder and 405 bullet, it is real ugly kicks about 3 times MORE than a 30-06 good luck 0 -
If you like reloading, Barnes makes .375 bullets as small as 210 gr. They are perfect for deer size game. The old .375 H&H is truly versatile. 0 -
I have an unfired ..Older model....red recoil pad...in .458 win. mag..unfired with manual..NO BOX....beautiful wood, iron sights..this can be downloaded to 45-70 specs. and I understand they are more comfortable to shoot...I can let you have this piece at a reasonable price..snake803@juno.com[This message has been edited by JIM STARK (edited 12-05-2001).] 0 -
Well ,thanks guys for the info on the gun, but I guess the gun broker made my mind up for me. I placed a bid on a 47/70 50 year commemorative and won the auction. I hope its a nice gun. Thanks Gerald 0
