Try this if in a hurry. I used a Rem 700 in the Marines. To disassemble the bolt we would..Bend at the waistand hook the notch on the bottom of the cocking piece to the first lace on our boots, the bolt face aimed at your nose. Give a solid pull on the bolt body to pull the cocking piece out of the slight recess on the bolt shroud. While maintaining this pull, turn the bolt (I think you turn the bolt counter clockwise). You'll have to turn the bolt far enough to skip over large cut-out in the shroud (where the cocking peice (firing pin) drops. You will have to use the boot-string once more (two 360 degree turns) and you can unscrew the cocking piece in your hands. When you re-assemble make sure the cocking piece rests in the slight recess of the shroud (were you started at) or you will not be able to insert the bolt into the action. In ADDITION: if you store your bolt outside of the rifle use this method and store the bolt with the cocking piece IN the large recess of the shroud. This prevents use of rifle (a safety measure, unless you know how to cock the blot outside the rifle) AND it takes pressure off the firing pin spring.

Get a block of scrap wood, most any kind will work but should be 'bout a foot long. Secure block so it won't move or tip over, can also use corner of a work bench of table just don't let wife catch you using HER table.Place striker of bolt against block and push down on bolt handle to draw striker to the rear. You will see a small slot on the side away from the handle, wedge a penny in the slot, now relax. The penny will hold the striker in the rearmost position and you can now unscrew the shroud and striker.Assemble in reverse.

Use a nickel and a bench vise. Pull the lugs back with the help of the vise face, then stick the nickel in the slot that opens up. Twist the bolt apart.
