Colt Double Eagle - Sloppy Slide/Frame Fit
I was checking out a couple of Colt Double Eagles recently at a gun show and I noticed that they seem to have loose slide/frame fits. One was NIB and the other was really clean; I can't imagine it had many rounds through it. To any Double Eagle owners: Is this a normal phenomenon? What is your experience with these pistols, with respect to slide/frame fit? Thanks in advance.

I own a Double Eagle Officers and the slide and frame are as tight as they are supposed to be. I do not like the look of them compared to the gov't model but they are very reliable and surprisingly accurate.I have compared it to a Sig 220 and the Sig has a better decocking setup but the Colt is way more accurate. 0 -
I also have a D/E Commander, and the slide/frame fit is not sloppy at all; about average for a Colt 1911 auto. As mentioned above, the decocker is not as easily manipulated as SIGs', but the pistol is accurate and the D/A trigger pull is pretty good. 0 -
The slide can be carefully pinched in a vise and tightened up.This is a legitimate repair to 1911 autos that have loosened up. 0
