12 GA SCOPES
I HAVE WINCHESTER 12 GA PUMP 1300 RANGER 1 YR OLD. I AM THINKING OF BUYING A VAR. SCOPE. IS A 1.5 - 6 X32 TO BIG OF A SCOPE OR IS A 4X BETTER? I AM USING WINCHESTER GOLD SUPREME PARTION SLUGS 1900 F.P.S. THEY ARE GOOD TO 125 YDS. SOME MAKE 1.5 - 4.5X32 WILL THIS ONE REACH FAR ENOUGH? WHAT BRANDS DO YOU RECAMEND? I WANT TO SPEND $ 150.00 MAX. WHAT IS A GOOD LOW LIGHT SCOPE?

the 4x is plenty. I have 4x scopes on rifles. It is for targeting not long distance viewing, and even x2 will get the job done. There is some danger with more magnification of being tempted to shoot beyond the functional range of your shotgun. Also, the single power scope is lighter and more compact which is an advantage. You should be able to find a nice one by Burris, Leupold, or for an economical scope look at Bushnell. an objective of 28-32mm should give you all the light you can use, yeilding an exit pupil of 7-8mm. Since slugs are generally used for short ranges (50-150yards), low magnification would be the best....my personal favorite is a red dot scope with no magnification for a shotgun. They would be right in your price range....great for deer. 0 -
