Colt Officers Model Match
Need help on Date and Value of a Colt Officers Model Match. It's a 38 special, 6" Barrel and Full Size Wood Grips with Silver Medallions. The Serial Number inside the crane and on the frame says 902###. It has adjustible rear sights and big front sight with two pins through it. I think it's a 5th issue and worth about $375, maybe $400, he thinks it's older and wants $750 for it. Other than the obvious, how would you tell if it's a single action only gun? I didn't think the owner would have appreciated me dry double action firing is Old Colt in %98 condition.

Thanks, I guess I CAN be right sometimes.Roy 0 -
The gun was made in 1953. If you like the Blue Book terminology it would be a "Fifth Issue."Earlier guns were called Officers Model Target, not Match.

I have one of these, although the cosmetics are far from 96%, but mechanically it is a real sweet pistol. The lockwork is just beautiful; seems identical to Python. These pistols will restore your faith in the world. 0 -
This is my favorite pistol, gets shot more than any other I own. Also the only one I keep them all in the 9 & 10 ring. The only thing to say about is "They don't make them like that anymore.Colt claim "Hand Finished Action" and it is smooth 0
