l1a1 muzzle brake

recently purchased a century (??)L1a1 308 rifle with a 12 hole muzzle brake and wonder if is left or right hand thread sae/metric or soldered on..would like to find a brake that blows it all forward as in brownell's catalog 53 pg. 36 levang..appreciate info before i start banging away at it.. thanks
