Hello all,
I am just seeking input from owners/users of the Kimber Ultra Carry .45 ACP. I am looking for a small, concealable 1911 and the Ultra Carry seems like it might fit the bill. I love the look and feel of the Kimber CDP series and have found even the little Ultra CDP to be quite accurate. I am just wondering if I could expect the same accuracy and dependability from the less costly model. Thanks in advance for your opinions.

Roy, I have the same gun only blued and the barrel design is weird it is either for the way it routes the gas for ejection or for locking up the barrel I for get which. kimberkid or someone else should see this post. as for the mag trbl I didn't have any trbl with my factory mags(my gun was bought new) but I have gotten Chip McCormick powermags for it and they are great. I love to shoot it< it really is a handfull.Rich

Sorry guys, on this one I'm no help! I may be wrong, but I beleive Kimber designed this barrel for the extra weight, to help keep it manageable. some of the earlier versions may have had the trumpet style barrel, however my Pro-Carry CDP also has the "step" design. I never cared for the Ultra, just too small for my hand. I did some house cleaning and can't find my Kimber catalogs except this years. I know I didn't pitch them as I seldom get rid of anything ... just can't find'em! Although I haven't talked with him in a while you might ask jonathan@kimberamerica.com he's in the custom shop, seem to be pretty sharp and has always gotten back to me pretty quickly. All the 2nd generation guns I've seen do have the Roman Numeral II after the model, I'm sure they all do.

You are thinking of the new Kimber internal safety modification as found on the Eclipse II guns.

AntiqueDrKimber is going to the firingpin safety on all models, their on-line price list doesn't anything but the second generation models ... thanks Kalifornia!

No " II " on mine. I just got me OEM Official Kimber takedown tool (L shaped paper clip) in the mail over the weekend. Hopefully I'll get a replacement magazine sent as well. I was told by a local gun dealer that the barrel was a cost saving measure. The trumpet style barrels had more metal and more polishing. These function just as well.Roy 0
