Marlin 336 rechambering 30-30 to 307 win

    The first thing that comes to mind is that the .307 is virtually a rimmed .308 and quite a bit higher pressure-wise than a .30-30 for which the rifle was made. The next point to consider is that the .307 would have to be loaded with blunt nosed bullets--so if you're looking at .308 ballistics you wouldn't quite get there. You could probably tinker around and make it work; but it would probably prove less satisfactory and more expensive than a rifle originally chambered for .307--and the Winchester version can be had if you look around.
