What do you think of those plastic barrel brushes that look like the real thing?Yes;maybe nobody has noticed,but some are made of plastic.[This message has been edited by s.gun (edited 11-25-2001).]

  Well, I have mixed feelings. They are fine for cleaning up a .22, but if you have a really filthy antique, nothing works like a bronze or brass brush; however, if you use a copper solvent, your brush will be eroded. In this case I use a stainless steel brush. Some say metal brushes wear the bore; I can't see this, as shooting the gun surely puts infinitely more stress on the gun than a bore brush, but perhaps it does cause more wear.

  Use brass or bronze only.Realize they do get used up are a maintenance item.Plastic won't get out metal deposits.Stainless will scratch a chrome moly barrel.Always use a guide.cpermd
