Has anyone here modified there FR8? I would like to mount a scope and maybe bend the bolt. Any one who as made any changes let me know. Thanks

This shouldn't be a problem, although you may need a gunsmith to do the job depending on your skill level. The FR-8 is just a surgically altered Mauser--the bolt can be cut off and a scope-compatable bolt welded on; or the bolt can be bent and reformed if you have bending blocks and a torch. As for the scope, the receiver can be drilled and taped for scope mounts; or you can buy one of the no gunsmithing mounts such as one of the clamp on models. This might all approach the value of the rifle. There is also another option--a kit recently introduced to the market by, I believe, Advanced Technology, that involves you cutting off the original bolt leaving just a nub, drilling and tapping a hole in the bolt (the drill and tap come with the kit) and then screwing on a new, bent bolt handle which will clear a low mounted scope. Thank You for the information. I have called B-Square. They said they did not have a mount for the FR8. I will talk to a gunsmith about the bolt. ThanksGreg 0 -
And by that time you could have bought a nice secound hand sporting rifle, which is what you're trying to create by defaceing an otherwise perfectly good milsurp piece. Sorry, but do you know that generly when you do this, you usally devalue rather than add value to your rifle? I mean unless it's a total POS from the start. 0
