Ithaca 37 Expert needed

2 questions1) My uncle has an Ithaca 37 MAG he got new in '80 will a slug barrel off a 2 3/4 gun work on it? My 37 is a 2 3/4 and a year older and it will not fit. A barrel off a 2 3/4 deerslayer police gun did fit. What does he need to look for to buy a barrel that will fit?2) A local dealer has a deerslayer in 20g the serial # was in the 900000 range. It looks hardly used a solid 95%-98%. I realy want to add this to my safe what would be a fair price? Thanks

  clhess- I love Ithacas also. The serial number is important. Guns with serial numbers above 855000 have interchangable barrels. Guns with lower serial numbers do not use the same thread as the guns with the higher serail number. If the barrel you tried to put on that gun is pre 855,000, it will not fit. You can use barrels that are 2 3/4 on the newer guns, provided the barrel that you are putting on the gun came from a gun that was post 855000.
