Dutch Mannlicher?
I just picked up a Dutch Mannlicher carbine No.1 1895 OM at a gun show. 1916 Hembrug manufacture. Not sporterized, though the buttplate is missing and the bayonet lug has been cut off for some reason. The stock has been polyuerethaned. A brown patina is covering the reciever and part of the barrel, but the rest of the barrel is very nice. Rifling VG. Before I disclose what I paid, what would you all put the price at?

Well, Sir, I picked up a full length specimen in about 90% condition for $17.50 in 1975, so considering inflation and all I'd say you're O.K. You can reverse the condition of the stock with a little careful stripping, sanding, and staining; and you can probably pick up the missing and altered parts. If the bore is nice you'll probably have a $150-175 rifle. Have any ammo? I've got 6 boxes of berdan corrosive from W.W.II, but am going to hang onto it. You might get some from Iconoclast. By the way, Romania used an almost identical rifle. 0
