.223 options
I'd like to get a semi-auto .233 just to plink with. The Mini 14 is a bit pricey for this purpose and I surely don't want to get into the expense of an AR right now. Do I have any other options?-Marcus

Agree - An AR is a much better investment. The AR is much more accurate than the Ruger will ever be.Boomer

Right now am selling ARs assembled with the Colt M16 kits and post ban receivers for $660.The FA parts are converted to SA with a plasma cutter and Dremel and assembled on Rock River lowers.ALL COLT GI parts except the lowers.Pretty cool I think 0 -
You did not say you were specifically interested in a semi auto gun. You could buy a less expensive bolt action rifle and plink with accuracy. What do you think??? RG 0 -
If you don't mind plinking with a single shot, you could always look at the NEF handi-rifle. Think I saw a new one, blued with a synthetic stock, at another auction site for $245. Guns and Ammo magazine featured the Handi Rifle (along with several other varmit guns in all price ranges) in a special on varmit rifles several months back and it did pretty good in the accuracy category if I remember correctly. I've never shot one myself. [This message has been edited by hyperspace (edited 11-19-2001).] 0 -
I think everyone should read Gravedigger's post again.

If the Bushmasters are still on sale somewhere in your area, look into one of those. I bought one, liked it so much I bought another one. Never looked back. 0 -
