Bullet Weight for .223 Remington
My recently purchased Ruger M77 .223 has a twist of 1:12. Does this fast twist require the use of a bullet of 60-70 gr as opposed to the commonly used 55 gr? If so,what is a good round to buy? Many thanks for the help!

In most(99%) but not all cases a bullet of the 60 to 70 gr variety will keyhole in a gun with a 1 in 12 twist. That means that the bullet is underspun when leaving the barrel and begins to tumble end over end. Effective bullets for your gun would be in the 45 to 55 gr range. Many brands like Hornady Amax or Vmax would be good choices. The heavy bullets to which you referred to would be commonly used in a gun with a 1 in 7 or 9 twist. RG 0
