Yes, it is a .308 bore and uses standard .30 cal bullets. I recommend Nosler 180 Ball Tip but the fairly new 175gr .30 cal match bullets from Sierra and Hornaday should work as well. Win 760 powder with a Fed 215 or Rem 91/2M primer. Actual performance beats the .308 Win and actually crowds the 30-06.Norma ammo and brass in this calibre is the only boxer primed brass I have found. Swiss military and other European brass has all been berdan primed. Cases can be formed from .284 Win brass without too much difficulty. The rebated rim is slightly smaller than the true 7.5x55 rim, but in the Swiss 11s and 31s the claw extractor grabs them reliably. I am not familiar with the Steyr design/extraction system. For what it's worth - I use Norma.

MAD DAWG,Thanks! I've seen these rifles from time to time for the last 5-6 years and thought they would make a nice addition, but I hesitated due to the calibur description. Since posting yesterday I've seen some Swiss 7.5 military surplus in shotgun news. Its good to know that the bullets are the same as the US standard, it will make the decision easier ... on second thought, maybe not!

A lot of boxer primed ammo just hit the market. Still, it isn't easy to find and I would reload.
