Are S&W "L" Frame Revolvers Shrinking?

Yesterday I went to my local gun shop looking to buy a S&W 357 revolver. I looked at a model 686-6, and when I was holding it, it seemed smaller than one I sold a while back. I used to have a model 681 (supposedly the same size L frame) that was a few years old and I swear that it was larger. Does anyone know if they really did shrink the frame size on the 686/681 line of revolvers or am I going crazy? Also, the new revolvers don't seem like they're made as well as the old ones.   Frame is the same.Most have the smaller round butt.

  Thanks everyone, it's good to know they aren't shrinking. It was probably the smaller grip that made it seem puny.

  I found an attorney and he has started the paperwork, depositions, etc., but it's a lengthy process. I am working with some head hunters right now to find something else.
