Mini-14 best replacement rear peep sight?

I am wanting to replace the standard rear sight of my 182 series stainless steel Ruger Mini-14. I would like something robust and combat style rather than an easily damaged target sight.I have heard that a surplus M1 carbine or Millett RM14001 are possibilities. DOes anyone have any other suggestions of ideas?

  I'm a big fan of the Ashley Ghost-Ring sight. They make a replacement blade for your rear sight and a matching front sight that pins on. Total set up costs $50 and you can do it yourself.
