I would expect it to say .22 s, l, lr. Hoban is not listed in the Blue book. It may have been a very small outfit, but more likely someone else built the rifle and Hoban was the seller, like Sears, Western Auto and other did. Likely someone here will be able to give you some more information. Good Luck! 0 -
Mfg. 1945-1949 by John D. Hoban in Salem, MI, who was originally with the Hamilton Rifle Co. There was also an exact copy mfg. in Germany in the mid-50's and imported by United Arms of Chicago. Named the "45" because of the first year of production. Designed to copy the popular M1 Carbine. 0 -
Kidsgun is on the money here; I have one of the German copies, and it is still going strong after 50 years. Single shot bolt action with a fake "magazine" as part of the triggerguard, pull the bolt knob to cock.Accurat and reliable, nicely built. 0 -
Thanks for the info. Does anyone know the going value on this rifle? 0 -
I bought mine for $120 and it is 98%. I've seen others which were very "used" go for $60. Occasionally one will go thru GB but I don't track their $$$$$. 0 -
