Could you please tell me what people are talking about when they say "large pin"? Drilled for push pin? Is there an advantage to have one over the other? And when did lowers get the mag release button "fence"?

  Colt made upper and lower receivers in which the front hinge or takedown pin is .315" in dia previously.Colt is the only co which did this.Colt also makes the trigger and hammer pins larger now.Both cases are so GI parts wont fit.The large hinge pin is overcome by using an offset pin which allows a small pin upper to fit a large hole upper. I have heard of folks turning down the inner portion of the trigger pins to fit regular or GI parts.The pushpin is in the rt front of the lower and is a detent in the reinforcement along the top of the lower.It presses against the hingepin head to hold it in place.Different companies started at different times.More examples of the ex great Colt firm chopping off their own body parts an inch at a time.

  Expalin to me how the big ends of a turned-down large trigger pin can get through the small-hole trigger so the trigger can pivot on the small part! I think what is meant is that the small-pin trigger and hammer holes are enlarged to accept the large pins, which would be very easy to do. The other way is to sleeve the holes in the receiver to accept small pins, which would be a bit tricky. (Epoxy might work too, but it would be tricky to keep the pin centered while the epoxy cures.) These are the only ways I know to use small-pin parts on large-pin Colt receivers.

  That is why I said I had heard of it.Seems impossible to me physically and mechanically.The best I could come up with is turning one end down it and then putting a sleeve on it.Seems silly although severalof the match trigger makers are discontinuing the large pin triggers.Jewell is not.I was hoping someone here would answer and explain it to me.Had a feeling you would jump in Judge.Colt just keeps hurting themselves.ed because I added some comments and can't type[This message has been edited by cpermd (edited 11-17-2001).][This message has been edited by cpermd (edited 11-17-2001).][This message has been edited by cpermd (edited 11-17-2001).]

  I have seen a conversion pin listed in the Bushmaster catalog.
