If you leave the barrel & receiver attached during cryo treatment (basically a bath in liquid Nitrogen or similar) I'd be afraid most of the treatment's effectiveness at relieving stresses in the barrel would be wasted because of the new stresses developed between the receiver & barrel shrinking & expanding at different rates. One's hardened (the receiver) & one still relatively "soft" (the barrel).Doesn't an M1A barrel thread into the receiver like on an M1? Where's Beachmaster when you need him?

Yes It just threads on.You just need a receiver wrench, barrel vise, stout table and vise and cheater bar.

I'm haveing my Weatherby done and figured what the hell a good reason to finally tear the M1A all the way down. I know alot of folks feel this is just a fad and doesn't do a thing but being a firearm tinkerer I figure I'll see for myself.Any more advise on the tear down would be greatly appreciated. Thanks drawn
