I have put many thousands of rounds through my P-97 and am completely happy with it. You can't go wrong with a Ruger.

Robin,As badboybob said "You can't go wrong with a Ruger."--I have to agree. But as you noted; it is a personal choice.I use my P94 (decock only in 9mm) as my "always in my vehicle" gun, but I didn't really find it comfortable in fitting my hands til I installed Hogue rubber grips.I know the all polymer framed P-series feel slippery in my hands if sweaty--common in the heat in SC; you might find the same to be true in FL.Like you noted, prices are right--especially with the rebates--but you may want to see if you can test fire similiar models as to what you're thinking of buying, or atleast handle them enough to be sure the "feel right". I normally suggest owning a gun that "feels right" the first time you pick it up--especially if the gun is going to be owned with self-defense in mind. In an emergency, the more natural a firearm feels to you, the better the chances you'll be able to use it successfully. (Practice is one way of "learning" to make the firearm feel more natural, but the design of the gun itself plays a role too.)

I love my Ruger KP89. The price is reasonable. As an added feature, I use a hi cap mag. Naturally, this isn't a conceal carry piece. Yes, the mag is ugly but it allows a 2 handed grip. At my age, this is a real benifit.
cbxjeffIt's too late for me, save yourself.

have had p94 for several yrs. and love it. i have big hands and it is just right. is very dependable, shoots better than i can hold it at my age. if you shoot two handed be carefol of the slide it will whack your left thumb. not as much kick and doesnt pull you off target as badley as the 45.

For the money you can't beat it. I have a .40 Ruger and I never have to doubt what it can do. As I have stated before, I can feed it any kind of ammo and it will feed and spit smooth as glass everytime. Best gun for the money bar none, and that's without the rebate.
