Man, you got me on this one. I can't even ID the correct cartridge. Looking through White & Munhall, there are 100s of .38 & 9mm rounds, but the only "Largo" is the 9mm Browning, which is a rimless semi-auto. Presume your cartridge designation is from the firearm, so maybe your first step would be to contact the maker if they still exist. Also, try contacting the NRA (you *are* a member, right?!); with their references, they are often able to ID the cartridge from the firearm data. Good luck!

This has the best of them stumped. The pistol is called an Orbea. They are just starting to turn up on the surplus market. Got mine WAY before this. From what I know it is the same as a .38 special, except it is blackpowder instead of smokeless. From the looks of the pistol, I would not dare to pop off a .38 special in this thing lest I would be minus a few appendages. Anyway, thanks for the try.

I have one I recently got from SOG. I just use the regular 38 special cases and fill the cases full of either black powder (messy) or Pyrodex. I slightly compress the powder to get maximum charge. I do not have any loading data but did not think this would be enough powder to be a problem. You will be lucky to get a round to penetrate a 2 x 4. Tom

DON'T USE .38 SPECIAL!!! Even a standard .38 Spl. load could be dangerous. This revolver was made to shoot .38 Long Colt. This was a blackpowder cartridge.I checked .38 LC in COTW, and no loads are given. It does say, "Black Hills Ammunition has recently reintroduced 38 Long Colt ammunition in response to demands from the Cowboy Action Shooting fraternity."However, my favorite .38 Spl. target load is a mild one, and should be safe for that gun. 2.5gr of Bullseye with a 125gr SWC bullet sized to .357.

OK, SOG says the 38 Largo is 38 special in black powder. I use BP to fill the cases almost to the top and compress it a little.SOG has them on sale now for 59.95. I would suggest the extra 10 bucks for hand pick. Mine is a POS. They are C&R eligible.Their website: southernohiogun.comHope this helps. Tom
