    It isn't a Smith & Wesson. .38 S&W is just the calibre. Iver Johnson was among the most stable and long-lasting of the many companies turning out cheaper copies of S&W break-open revolvers from the 1880s through the 1940s under hundreds of trade names. The need for a firing pin probably indicates that it's in less than perfect condition otherwise, so the repair cost might exceed the value of the revolver.
