    The bolt/receive/barrel combination depends on teh cartridge size. For instance there are short action, meduim action, and long action receivers for different lengths of cartridges. Rounds like the .223, .243, & .308 only need a short action receiver. The std. length is for rounds in the .30-06 class, and long action receeivers are needed for the .300 Ultra length cartridges.Also there are different bolt diameters. The .223 and others need a small bolt face, the .243, .308, .270, .30-06, etc. need a larger bolt, and magnum calibers (with larger carttridge heads) require yet a different bolt.So, there are 'families' of cartridges that only require a different barrel (and headspacing).     Wow Luger........you sure know your stuff. Too bad I have a terrible memory. I think I will just print that out for future needs.
