I'm looking into buying my first handgun. I'm considering a Ruger P89D. Any feedback would be appreciated.Thanks

It's not a bad choice at all, good shooting platform for the 9mm. Good weight and well built. Welcome to the world of handgun ownership, enjoy your new addictive hobby safely.Think about some firearms training both in fuction and safety if you are unfamiliar, again enjoy.

For a first handgun--especially if it is the case that you're new to them--you might want to consider just a 22LR to start with.Ruger's Mark 2 would be a good choice if you're more interested in an automatic; if thinking about revolvers, Ruger's SP101 in 22LR can be a whole lot of fun--and is great for training yourself in the basics.Our military starts handgun training with 22LR Ruger Mark 2's.
