Both will perform about equally. My preference is the HS. RG

Performance will mainly depend on how you shoot, and how the gun is bedded.Hold both, decide which one will most suit your shooting style. Just my 2 cents.

The H/S sporter is really designed for a magnum long action. H/S creates one stock for both the standard long action and magnum long action. As a result the barrel channel and recoil lug area is too large for a standard long action. I purchased an H/S for my 700 in .280 and didn't like the fit. I talked to H/S and they said the bedding block would hold the recever in place, but I just didn't like the large gaps on each side of my barrel. I sent it back for a refund and purchased the McMillian that was made for just a standard long action(McMillian makes a different model for each the standard and magnum long action. It fits great and my gun shoots real well.
