.30 carbine in a semi-auto pistol?
Seems to me I saw something about a semi-auto pistol that fires the .30 carbine round. Can anybody tell me anything about it?Also would someone be kind enough to 'splain the .400 Cor-bon conversion I've read about on these forums? A comparison of the two for defense purposes would also be of interest.ThanksMudge the inquisitive

AMT made a auto loader in the 30 carbine round. Ruger made a single action 6 gun in that round as well. I am not aware of any others. 0 -
The 400 Cor-Bon 185gr. @ 1380fps +- 45 Acp 925fps. The Cor-Bon is a necked-down 45 case that will work in a 45 pistol or mag. A conversion consists of replacing the 45 barrel with an after-market 400 Cor-Bon drop-in barrel and a heavier recoil spring.[This message has been edited by oneshy (edited 11-07-2001).] 0 -

As I recall, the Kimball looked like a Hi Standard and was a straight blowback. It had a grooved chamber that greated a lot of friction drag to delay opening. I also recallit was very dangerous on both ends. 0 -
I own an AMT III in .30 Carbine. Still see them occasionally at gun shows and CDNN Investments still sells factory mags for them. With standard ball ammo designed for an 18 inch barrel, these pistols are loud and a ball of flame comes out of the barrel. Very accurate, flat shooting, and surprisingly low recoil. A poor man's Desert Eagle.I've had some trouble with my conservative handloads, not enough powder charge to cycle the heavy spring. With milsurp ammo, no problems. 0
