Remtek 5.7 x 28 pistol
Whoa, anybody know when these'll be available in the U.S.? To ORDINARY citizens, that is? http://www.remtek.com/arms/fn/57/index.htm

You don't want one, its a crappy caliber for any civilian use, its mainly designed for penetrating body armor at close range. A 23gr 5.7mm bullet goes 2790fps with 400 ft lbs of muzzle energy.A .45acp 230gr fmj going 855fps will have 405ft lbs. 0 -
It's far from a crappy round! I don't know where you get your info but it has the almost the same ballistics as the .223. It is also chambered in an assault/submachine gun called the FN P90. That lil sucker will throw 900 rnds per minute. Ya thats real crappy! Don't hold your breath if you're waiting for it to come into the civillian market, only availible to L.E and military only. Its such a crappy round that it's only availible to L.E and Military units. 0 -
I have the privilege of operating a FN P90 on a regular basis. The bullet is 31 grains, not 23. Let me assure you, it is an AWESOME weapon for a specific use. Civilians cannot get one. The ammo is also restricted and expensive. The P90 is VERY controllable and accurate even on full auto. This is a fact provided the operator is properly trained. Put simply it ROCKS!!!! 0 -
Interesting discussion, a little more information on the cartridge please. Why is it restricted and so costly? Sounds like it would be fun to use on armadillos (sp) and other varmints. Thanks, 11thcanopy"There are lies, there are damn lies, and there are statistics" Annon. 0 -
I'm gonna' hazard a guess here about the ammo cost & availability:It's very specialized stuff indeed, intended specifically for close-engagement, body armor penetration; Remtek (FN?) appears to have only two weapons designed to use it - neither of which are available outside law enforcement or the military. 0
