Got one myself; AK action with a sporter stock. It's nice till you put a big AK clip in it; empty 30 rounds through it and the front stock section gets so hot you can't hold it.(I solved that problem on mine with vent holes in the stock--looks like swiss cheese--and venting the gas tube.)If you're not interested; have your friend email me; wouldn't mind getting another--at a good price ofcourse. (I paid $179 for mine, new, about two years ago.)Joecompetentone@hotmail.com 0 -
Does anybody else have any opinions? 0 -
From what little I know it is an AK47 built by the Izhmash arsenal in Russia. It comes in 4 configurations. 5.45, 5.56, 7.62 & shotgun. I've seen one on the net with PSO scope, illuminated reticle, hammer-forged chrome-lined barrel, scope base and mounts 2 8rd. mags in plastic carrying case for $439.95. It is considered the hunting carbine variant of the AK47.[This message has been edited by oneshy (edited 11-07-2001).] 0 -
Do Saiga's take AK, high cap clips? I thought they didn't. 0 -
They can take an AK clip after it has been ground on and then welded on. It won't fit or feed otherwise. I have some 30rd ones already modified for the Saiga, ready to ship. They run $29.95 plus shipping. LRARMSX@HOME.COMBTW, it isn't illegal to modify them to fit a different gun. It is only illegal to MAKE new high cap mags. 0 -
CDNN currently sell's new Saiga 7.62x39 Rifles for $179.99, saw add in shotgun news, 800-588-9500 is the number.Add says they do not take conventional AK magazines, extra 10rd mags are $13 each.I personally would rather have an AK or an SKS. 0 -
oneshy,There is the 7.62x54 Saiga (and it's NOT the .54 Russian; it IS chambered for the Winchester .308). The price you noted in your post, sounds like that Saiga.Regarding the magazines for the 7.62x39; yes, "Some fitting may be required" for the high capacity mags to work--but the receiver, magazine well and latch is, for all practical purposes, identical to the AK. (But don't spread that around; I think they get "import points" by having a "unique" magazine!) Of course, as I noted in my early post; you'll get third degree burns if you try rapid fire with high capacity clips without doing something to control the heat at the front grip! 0
