Cleaning knives
Appreciate the info on the leather cleaning of the knives, but also the pocket knives themselfs were in storage so long that a moldy dirty finish is built up on the handles and blades. Probably because I used vaseline to protect them when put away and trapped moisture under that. What is the best way to clean this off? Thanks, Jerry [means the stupid in cajun french]

Sounds like a degreasing problem. Get a small container like an empty catfood can or similar and fill it with kerosene. Insert pocket knife and scrub with a toothbrush. There are a lot of other solvents such a paint thinner, gasolene, etc., but kerosene is less aggressive and far less likely to damage the grip scales. Dry with an absorbant cloth and then use Simichrome on the bolsters and blades. If the blades have rust spots you may want to try removing it with red Scotchbrite or OOOO steel wool and gun oil. 0
