SKS TROUBLE
I have a SKS that only shoots one shell then either partly ejectes it and jams,or don't even try to kick it out. The rod gets hung up in the gas tube..won't slide freely have cleaned it out really good, but it still don't slide freely...Is this my problem,or should I be looking at something else other than the gas tube? This is my first SKS... Oro

I've started practicing with this gun again recently, and something's wrong. A few days ago it was firing fine with some winchester rounds. After cleaning it and and buying some remington UMC rounds, i took it out again. Now for some reason it's firing off 2 rounds at a time. one of the third rounds i unloaded also had a small indent from the pin in it, but not enough to fire the round. What's the problem, a weakened hammer part? And what damage do think it could've done? 0 -
Have you checked your gas port to assure that it is clean? When your top handguard and gas tube are removed from the barrel you should be able to run something flexible like a pipe cleaner through the gas port and into the bore and observe it by looking through the bore. 0 -
Sir, make sure the chamber is not rusty, this can cause hang-ups in extraction. Also, remove the gas tube and inspect for dents or dings, straightness, and condition (lack of rust). You might try running a brake cylinder hone thru it and polish it some what. If you do not have a hone, a brass cleaning brush and the various grades of 3M blending pads do a good job of polishing. 0 -
Don't put any oil on the inside of the gas tube or piston. Just clean it with bore cleaner and wipe dry before reassembly. 0
