There is a type of mount thats made for your Mod 54 that uses the two screw holes on the side that normaly your reciever sights would be mounted to, for the rear scope mounts. They're called Stith mounts. They show up at gun shows and auctions every now and then. I'm not aware of anyone else making a mount for that particular rifle.
Man is naturally an animal of pray, and however changed by civilization will readily relapse into his instinct for distruction!

Sir, you should be able to take this gun to any competent gunsmith and he can drill and tap it for a one piece or two piece scope mount. If you want to leave it all original, I would look for the Stith mount.

Stith mounts use the dovetail slot from the rear sight and the holes on the left side of the reciever for a peep sight. These are for 3/4 inch scopes. Mod 54's are hard to scope like a modern rifle because of the bolt handle. A low mounted scope will not work. I have a Lyman Alaskan 21/2 X scope with Stith mounts if your interested. Outside finish is brown, optics are clear. Contact me at swanie@ptialaska.net if interested and we can talk. Swanie
