Removal of Mini-14 rear sight

Hi Everyone I have to the remove the standard rear sight from my 182 series Mini-14 to clean up some minor corrosion that has formed under and in the sight. I will be removing the sight base and then disassembling the sight and reassembling it. 1. What is the correct way to remove the sight 2. How can I return the sight adjustments to the original settings so I don't have to resight the rifle?
