Joker,NO NO NO! The Nagants use what used to be called "30 Russian"; Now more correctly called "7.62 X 54 R". The "R" is most important. This ammo is even cheaper on the surplus market than the NATO stuff which is also called "308 Winchester". Cartridges are about equal in power, accuracy, range, recoil, etc. Be careful, have fun.Morty

7.62X54R=7.62 is the caliber,54 is case length in millimeters and the "R" stands for rimmed. On the other hand, the 7.62 NATO cartridge case is only 51 millimeters in length,is rimless and much smaller in diameter. In other words they are no where near interchangeable.

There are tons of surplus 7.62 x 54 ammo on the market right now, most of which is extremely affordable. Corrosive ammo is very cheap, just be sure and scrub the bore with boiling water and then use a commercial bore cleaner designed for corrosive primers.
