Well God's sake, don't cut the old one up... surely it can be repaired; even in the worst case it has useable parts.
"...hit your enemy in the belly, and kick him when he is down, and boil his prisoners in oil- if you take any- and torture his women and children. Then people will keep clear of you..." -Admiral of the Fleet Lord Fisher, speaking at the Hague Peace Conference in 1899.

Good luck trying to get anything out of Norinco. But for about $50.00, you can get a new trigger group, and new bolts are not expensive either. I'd recommend replacing some parts before taking to it with a hack saw! Try tapco.com or cdnninvestments.com.

Good advice from boeboe. By the way, the Great SKS Invasion is nearing it's end. SOG says that they have the last Romanian SKS rifles in stock. I've gotten calls lately looking for SKS rifles. I don't know where they all went, thousands and thousands were imported and sold; but the availability seems to be going down and the price going up. I know I'm keeping mine, and maybe most other folks are too. Buy a trigger group.

You might want to check the firing pin. I have worked on several that were so caked with crud from improper cleaning they would hang in fired position and act as full auto.

rwfixem, from what I've heard, is correct. The firing pin does not contain a pin retention spring, and can get stuck in firing position.
