Colt commander SXE
I just bought a Colt commander sxe and it looks like Colt is back on track with this beauty. Also the price is reasonable.I am partial to Colt 1911s, but the 80s series and the 1991s were very disappointing.I hope Colt can make a comeback with this model. I would hate to see an American icon like Colt go out of business!!

Saxon, yes it is stainless, and the fit and finish is excellent. It also has double diamond rosewood grips with nice grain. It is the best Colt commander I have seen in a long time.It shoots tight groups out of the box.Check one out. 0 -
Is the trigger metal or plastic? Is the mainspring housing metal or plastic? Are the magazines 7 or 8 round? 0 -
JudgeColt, The trigger is aluminun, the mainspring housing is metal and it is an 8 round magazine. The roll markings on the slide were changed back to the more traditional Colt stampings. The finish is a combination of matte and bright stainless. It is a fine looking pistol and about time from Colt. 0 -
It is the XSE which is a little different than their XS model, which I feel marked the start of their comeback. The XS had the Novak style rear and dovetail front sights. It also had a extended ambi thumb safety and an Defender style grip safety with slide serations front and rear. It was discontinued after only a year or two and the XSE took its place. The XSE has a few less features but costs a little more than the XS. The fit and finish of both models are the same and a distinct improvement over the 1991 models.
Without the NRA, the second ammendment would already be gone!0 -
Colt had to do something because Kimber and Springfield were kicking their butts. The XSE is the best out-of-the-box Colt in quite some time.I currently have an XSE LW Commander on auction at a competing site for $725. I can not keep them in stock locally.
