RUST REMOVER?

Is there anything good to remove rust from a gun without damage to the blueing?

  If it's just a little spot I've had pretty good luck just rubbing it with a #2 pencil.The graphite is just abraisive enough to remove light rust, And you can control it real well, so you don't scratch things up too badly. Try a hidden spot till you get the hang of it.

  The rust is on the receiver of the gun good size spot.I would say it is mild rust maybe a little pitting.I would like to get as much off that i can without reblueing the gun.

  Use 0000 steel wool with gun oil. Rub lightly. The surface corrosion will come off.

  I have had some luck with a piece of wadded up aluminum foil. It wont damage the blue but it will remove light rust. If really bad try some 4-0000 steel wool carefully as it works like the energizer bunnie it just keeps going and going.

  This is weird but rub CLP into the rust and then both CLP and abrade with a penny.cpermd

  I use the Big 45 Frontier Gun Shop Gun Cleaner. It looks like a stainless steel pot scrubber but is apparently made of aluminum, and it works great.Try www.brownells.com

  That guy with the penny was real close.I use break free and a copper or brass brush.Since the steel is harder than the copper or brass they will not damage the blue.Scrub as hard as you like,no damage.Or,like ome said try it in a hidden place first if you doubt it.The blue or black color is not on the steel,it is in it.Like a dye.It is as hard as the steel.Whatever you do.leave that steel brush in the drawer as it will destroy the blue.

  I USE KROIL AND 0000 STEEL WOOL ,WORKS GREAT .I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING REMOVE RUST LIKE KROIL ,IT ALSO MAKES A GREAT GUN LEANER GOOD LUCK DON
